Kibbo Kift is a punk and new wave band hailing from Alajuela, Costa Rica. Comprised of four talented musicians: Sebastian Alvarez on vocals and guitar, Katherine Ortiz on bass and vocals, Fernando Murillo on guitar, and Andres "Chiri" Sanchez on drums. Kibbo Kift has been making waves in the Costa Rican music scene since their formation in 2015.

They were photographed by Luis Alonso Murillo on medium format Kodak film (Kodak Tri-X and Kodak Portra 400), and styled by Eduardo Murillo (Opalo de Media Noche). The photoshoot took place in an abandoned property in Alajuela in February 2021.

Sebastian is a talented skateboarder based in Heredia, Costa Rica. He developed a passion for skate at a young age and has since honed his skills to become a highly skilled skateboarder. In addition to this sport, Sebastian has also pursued his studies, completing a degree in Business Management to further his education and career prospects.

Sebastian also enjoys a variety of other sports and activities. He is an avid gym-goer, and he believes that staying fit and healthy is essential for both his physical and mental well-being. He also enjoys discovering new places, which he finds to be a great way to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of his country.

Johan is a male model from The Aegency in Costa Rica, who is known for his striking looks and chiseled physique. A dedicated fitness enthusiast, Johan is passionate about working out, eating healthy, and taking care of himself both physically and mentally.

This Vanity Teen photoshoot featuring model Alejandro (The One Agency) is a stunning representation of grunge aesthetic from the mid-90s. I used a combination of black and white and color negative film, creating a vintage aesthetic that is both raw and edgy. The photoshoot showcases Alejandro's softer and rebellious sides, adding to his dynamic range as a model.

This shoot was spontaneous and unplanned, adding to the authenticity of the final product. Both Alejandro and I were able to capture the essence of the era and style without forcing any poses or looks. The result is a series of images that feel natural and true to the time.

The black and white film adds a layer of intensity, capturing the depth of his emotion and adding an extra edge to the photos. As a photographer, I had the opportunity to create this shoot with the talented male model and music producer, Mystic (The Aegency). This photoshoot was a collaboration with stylist Eduardo Murillo and was shot on Fujifilm in both 35mm and medium format. The result is a collection of images that have a nostalgic yet colorful aesthetic that truly pops in color.

My inspiration for this shoot was "Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark," and I wanted to capture the feeling of the music in our images. Eduardo styled Mystic Pimp in vintage clothing, with particular attention paid to his Burberry pants. The clothing added to the overall aesthetic of the shoot, and we were able to capture a perfect blend of vintage and modern styles.

Shooting on both 35mm and medium format was a great choice, as it allowed us to capture the details and nuances of Mystic Pimp's style and personality. The shoot itself was a lot of fun to do. Mystic Pimp is a natural in front of the camera, and his personality shone through in every image. Eduardo's styling was on point, and the combination of vintage clothing and modern styling really worked well.

Brandon (The One Agency) is a rising male model from San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica. With his striking features and charming personality, he has quickly made a name for himself in the local  industry. Despite his young age, Brandon is known for his professionalism and dedication to his craft. As he continues to grow and develop his skills as a model, he is sure to become a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.

As a photographer, I will never forget the importance of this photoshoot I did with male model Geordrick Samuels (The Aegency) in early 2020. Little did we know at the time that it would be our last shoot before the pandemic hit. The shoot was fully shot on film, both black and white and color film, and captured the perfect mix of Geordrick's softness and masculinity.

The images we created that day have a unique grittiness to them, yet there is still a softness that comes through in every shot. I think this is a testament to Geordrick's talent as a model, as he was able to convey so much emotion and range in each pose. The film medium really allowed us to capture the essence of his personality and the energy of the moment.

This photoshoot was incredibly important to me, not just because it was the last shoot before the pandemic hit, but because it really encapsulated everything that I love about photography. It was a collaboration between two artists, each bringing their unique talents to the table to create something truly special. I think this is what makes photography so powerful - it allows us to capture moments in time that will never be repeated.
